The Fault In Our Stars campaign

The Fault in our stars had a very successful campaign. TFIOS used social media to promote their movie and did so very successfully. Between the print covers of TFIOS, the movie used similar images throughout. Bothe the DVD front and poster of the film had the same image which is an iconic image of both the main character Augustus and Hazel.
The use of these two characters in the main image, the audience are immediately connected with the characters. The audience gets an idea of what the story line of the movie is going to be about even without watching the film. In the poster there is use of the same font and also the same colours this is consistent in the dvd front cover also. I believe having the same image with the same text and colours makes the image memorable. The text of TFIOS is very youthful, it is an iconic text that is recognised anywhere, the use of san-serif font that looks like it is handwritten makes it look youthful and fun. This contrast to the movie, although the characters are young the film is not a fun or happy movie.
In the image, the audience sees the female character Hazel wearing an oxen tube, straightaway the audience will jump to their own conclusions of the characters illness which might lead to the audience wanting to watch the film which has automatically meant the film has moved out if it's original niche market and reaching into a mainstream audience.
The  slogan of the film "one sick love story" has a hidden message behind it with the adjective sick poster and dvd front gives the audience a hint to what the movie is going to relate to.

The magazine is different from the dvd and poster. The magazine shows a different image of the main character and also uses a different font. The magazine is separate from the dvd and poster campaign and  is also separate from the film company therefore they are able to pot ray the character differently from the film poster
