To create my trailer I used a cannon camera which was borrowed from school, this camera was easy and straightforward to sue and also was a good quality camera that made the quality of my work higher. The camera was able to be easily transported to different locations when I needed it to be. To make my shots steady and stable all my scenes was shot on a tripod, this allowed movement to be smooth. As my genre was a romantic drama, I required less locations as this is common in most romantic dramas. My only had two locations which were my school and house. The location that is most prominent is the school location as the film is based around two students who meet at school. My trailer is meant to straightaway attract the audience of a similar age group. I decided to keep my shots natural my not adjusting any lights, I believe this would be important because this is drama film therefore is meant to portray a real life situation. I believe the music in my trailer strongly aids my trailer and the genre. I used two songs “Banks-Waiting game” and “Hozier-Work Song”. These two songs worked very well together and the change in the music shows that there is a change in the storyline (a darker side) In the beginning of my trailer, I used the song “waiting game” as the song talks about falling in love and pleasing someone, this is used at the beginning because this part is meant to happy and shows the happy side of Amelia’s life. The screen changes into a black screen where waiting game fades out and works song fades in. This change shows the challenges Amelia goes through with Daniel. This follows conventions of existing products especially drama movies. In the trailer of the film “The Spectacular Now” there is 3 changes in music to fit the issues of the character and this is all within 2 and a half minutes. I edited the music to fit certain scenes in the trailer to give the trailer more effect. In making my trailer I believe theorist influenced the order in which I placed scenes and the way I represented my characters. The theorist Todrov’s three stages of narrative helped me when ordering my trailer. Todrov argued that films start with an equilibrium then go into a disequilibrium an end with a new equilibrium. After researching into trailers of my genre, I decided to challenge this convention. I believe having a trailer which started with a disequilibrium will grab the reader straightaway. This is because the audience would want to know what is happening or why there is trouble, even the audience don’t go and watch the film they will want to finish watching the trailer to get possible answers. My trailer starts with Amelia in a classroom alone crying, I placed a voiceover of people (her peers) telling Amelia that Daniel is bad for her and he will get her into trouble. This I believe will attract my potential audience as they can relate to the issues of being at school. The ending of my trailer features single shots of my characters and an intertitle before introducing them. I believe this would attract an audience and helps my trailer. If this were a real media product with well-known celebrities this would be an effective way of grabbing and the film will go through a film junket, this is where the celebrities will answer questions about the film in order to promote the film. Another very influential theorist was Levi-Strauss and his theory of binary opposites. My film is based around the difference in character between Amelia and Daniel. I tried portraying good vs evil, love vs hate, innocent vs corrupted. As my film is based around the life of Amelia is tried to portray the troubles a teenager would go through but exaggerate this to make the film more interesting. I wanted to show the relationship between Amelia and Daniel as boyfriend and girlfriend. The scene that shows the contrast between two characters is when Amelia tells Daniel she loves him and he yells at her saying she doesn’t love him because he doesn’t love her. I believe this is an effective scene that my audience can relate. The idea of my film is to present real life issues, which is also a convention of drama film. I also wanted to use Propp’s broad character types when portraying my characters, according to Propp’s Amelia will be the princess who is in a relationship with the prince. However my characters take up multiple roles during the course of the film. Amelia takes up other roles such as the donor, the helper and the princess. In the film Amelia helps Daniel to understand that he has a problem which needs help. Daniel takes up roles such as the villain and also takes up the role of being the hero. I wanted the audience to dislike Daniels character, but as the film develops they grow to understand why he is the way he is. In making my trailer if enforced Angela McRobbie’s theory which suggest that women and men are represented in a stereotypical ay through media. In my trailer, Amelia is represented as being weak and as being the victim as she is suffering from her past. I represented Daniel as being Strong, powerful and aggressive. I followed this because I believe challenging this convention would be irrelevant around my storyline. I also believe it will connect to viewers of similar age to Amelia. The end of my trailer is an image of the character and has links to subscribe and to buy tickets. I believe this makes the trailer interactive, the audience do not need to look for how to purchase tickets if required and can also link to the page to view other clips. This is unique and different, it isn’t seen on many trailers, however this is a convention that is starting to develop and grow amongst this product.

How effective is the combination of your main product (trailers) and ancillary texts (print products)?
I created both a teaser and a theatrical trailer to support my film ‘once beaten twice shy’. My film is about a teenage girl who has moved school as a result of her mother’s constantly changing job. Amelia always being an outcast decided that this time she is going to be different. However wherever she moves to her past seems to follow her. Amelia was abused as a child and now suffers from chronic shyness. In her first week of school Amelia is sent to detention where she meets the bad boy of school Daniel Thompson. The two get to know each other meanwhile Daniel’s ex-girlfriend is out to destroy their relationship.
As their relationship blossoms Daniels dark side starts to appear and Amelia finds that Daniel is bad for her and will get her into trouble due to his bad drinking problems. Daniels ex finally catches up with Amelia and tells her to keep away from Daniel or she will be on her bad side. I made sure my teaser and theatrical trailer worked and supported each other well. In my teaser trailer, there isn’t much narrative to it, it just shows different characters interacting with each other but leaves questions that is brought to light in the theatrical trailer. I also made sure my print product linked with each other well. I made a poster, billboard, DVD cover and magazine front cover. I made sure that similar images were used of the two main characters, also the same two fonts which were Myriad pro from adobe fireworks and Photoshop and a font called basic title from online font website dafont. I tried sticking to a house style for my products by having the same fonts and having similar colour scheme running through all products.
I believe this is Important because this will make my products identifiable to my audience. It will be easy for my audience to relate my products to each other. When creating my text I kept continuity in mind and making my products consistent. The use of same font across all print products shows they link together. In this scene Daniel and Amelia have a fight, this is because Daniel believes Amelia cannot love him because he isn’t stable. This scene is important in the trailer as we start to see the disruption in the movie. This scene develop the start of other issues within Amelia and Daniels relationship. In this scene I have the actors wearing the same clothing which I have placed on my magazine cover, DVD cover and Poster. This shows a link between the trailer and those ancillary text. I believe this is good because the audience will be familiar with this key scene when watching the film or will be looking out for IT. I dressed my characters in simple clothing which teenagers will wear. I aimed to dress Amelia in dark clothing and Daniel in brighter colours. This shows the contrast in characters straightaway.
I dressed Amelia in dark make-up both in the trailers and in the ancillary text. This shows Amelia character to perhaps be a dark character with issues which is what I aimed to show. The last scene of the theatrical trailer is Amelia and Daniel laughing together, this contradicts the previous scenes of Amelia saying Daniel is scaring her and Amelia saying he is a mess. I believe this scene is effective there because it makes the audience an active audience, they are left guessing about the relationship between the two characters. In the DVD cover I used back images which I screenshotted from the trailer to show consistently, this is a link between these products as the still images used in the DVD are actual clips from the trailer.
In the ancillary text, I followed Cohen’s theory which suggested people in society are either demonised or marginalised. I dressed the character Daniel in hoodies and puffy jackets which are consistent in all my products. I aimed to show Daniel is being a dangerous character in contrast to Amelia. This is seen in my ancillary text which shows Amelia wearing simple clothing in contrast to Daniel in a hoody. This is consistent in all my products the contrast in the two characters. In trailer I show Amelia cutting her hair off due to her illness. In my billboard and DVD cover the same image is used of Amelia and Daniel together, this image features Amelia’s short hair. This shows continuity and consistently between the products.
Campaigns such as the fault in our stars, the spectacular now and perk of being a wallflower all used the same image in all their products. I believe this is good in getting the audience to identify the film easily. The use of the same image in both the DVD and billboard show consistency. I believe my products relate with each other as they follow similar house style and also follow similar conventions.

Q3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The audience is very important in the making of a movie. I believe my audience feedback was very useful and helped me improve on my products. I learnt from my audience that my sound needs to be louder, my intertiles need to be longer and a lot more. These feedback have told me the weaknesses of my trailer and what I need to go back and improve on which I shall do. I also learnt the power of social media in getting responses from an audience. In pre-production i asked an audience about which film logo they preferred for my final production company name. I used this feedback to choose my final logo. I believe this was important as having my audience choose the logo shows that I have taken on board my audience feedback to help in the final logo.
This is a screening of my trailer to my peers, this helped me understand what my audience disliked and liked about my trailer. This helped me to know what i needed to improve to please majority of my audience.

New Dvd Cover
I have changed a few things on my dvd front cover. I moved the title of the movie to the top of the page making it easier to read and giving more room for the image. I also added some award advertisement at the bottom of the page e.g. 'academy award nominations' and 'best picture'.

Final Billboard
Rather than fireworks, I used Adobe's Photoshop. I learnt most of the skills by researching YouTube to help make this billboard look like it does.
